Advice and answers from the BudURL Team

With BudURL, link tracking is simple yet sophisticated, and you have lots of options to view your analytics. Data is updated on your dashboard once per hour, while your activity stream and individual link stats will update in real time.

Viewing individual link stats:
Once a link has been created, click on it to reveal individual link data. You'll be able to see clicks by hour, day, week, and the last 30 days; you'll also see clicks by geography, referral site, and even individual IP address.

Scroll to the bottom of the page for a real-time list of the last 25 clicks, plus a link to export a CSV of all clicks, so you can slice and dice the data as you please.

Viewing overall stats:
If you're looking for a higher level view of your link data, a good place to explore is your Dashboard. This is the default view you'll see upon logging into your BudURL account. The Dashboard default view is data from the last 7 days, but you can use the filter function in the top navigation above your charts to change this. You can filter by user, label, url builder, and date range.
Note: Due to account permissions settings, not all users have access to view data for other users. Check with your account administrator if you would like to request broader access.

On your dashboard you will also have quick access to Clicks, New Links, Conversions, Device Traffic, Trending links and Recent Activity.

The Link Stats Report
Found in the navigation bar on the left under Reporting, the Stats tab ranks your links by overall click activity. The data is updated hourly and the default view shows the top 10 links, but the filter menu can easily show you more or less - or you can select a custom date range.

Real-Time Analytics: The Activity Stream
The Activity Stream allows you to view your traffic as it happens with updates every 10 seconds. In real-time, view traffic by:

  • Link or Page clicked on
  • Referrer (where they are clicking your link from)
  • City
  • Browser type
  • Device type
  • The long URL associated with your short link

Exporting Your Stats

Export overall stats for your domain can be found in the navigation bar on the left under Links and choosing one of the export options. If you have admin access, you'll also have the ability to export by all users. If you have more than one custom domain on your account, make sure to choose the domain you need in the dropdown menu at the top of the page.
